I have been photographing the world since I was 12 years old. There was no auto focus (microprisms were your friend), no auto exposure (always had to watch the exposure “needle”), flashes were all manual (guide numbers and distance), and a fast ISO was 160 (remember HIGH speed Ektachrome?). My favorite films were Tri-X and Kodachrome 64. My absolute favorite lens was always a macro; I like to get close to things and see what’s not always apparent. I also like longer telephotos for the same reason.
I enjoy beauty. Whether it’s a flower, a sunset, a woman, butterflies doesn’t matter. It gives me joy to watch for it, capture it, and share it. I tend to photograph primarily for myself, and if others like it, too, all the better. My first love in photography was the natural world, and butterflies, flowers, and water are still my favorite things to photograph. Over the past few years, I’ve become much more interested in people as a subject; I try my best to capture that something special in my portraits and sometimes it actually works out that way.
I hope that you enjoy my blog, my writing, and mostly, my photography. I’m always interested in seeing your comments, and always up to make new friends. If you feel like chatting, just shoot me an email “firstname.lastname@example.org”. Thanks.
